Though a smaller peacock spider, its vivid colors and intricate mating rituals, described by their scientific name derived from a Latin word meaning "rocking," make it an enchanting sight to observe in its natural habitat. The Maratus nigromaculatus, distinguished by its black spots, also inhabits Queensland, while the Maratus pavonis is across Western Australia, New South Wales, Victoria, and Tasmania. Maratus sceletus, nicknamed "Skeletorus" because of its skeletal appearance, resides exclusively in the Wondul Range National Park. These spiders have predominantly black bodies adorned with striking white stripes, a vivid illustration of nature's ability to create diverse forms and patterns.
